Wellness Policy

Wellness Policy

Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the health and wellness committee, which includes teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse.

GCS Wellness Policy – search for ‘wellness’ or ‘po8510’.

Key Areas of our Wellness Policy:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Physical activity
  • Other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness

If you are interested in joining the Wellness Committee or would like to learn more, please contact Heather Bontrager, GCS Director of Nutrition, or Wendy Swallow, GCS Director of Nursing Services.

Smart Snacks

All foods sold at school during the school day (from midnight the night before until 30 minutes after school is over) are required to meet ingredient and nutrition standards. The Smart Snacks in School regulation applies to foods sold a la carte, in the school store, vending machines, and any other venues where food is sold to students.
