Report an Absence
Report an Absence
To report an absence, we ask that you call your child’s school directly to inform them. Remember, you need to call your child’s school every day that your child will miss. GHS, GJHS & GIS have designated attendance lines for parents to call; Chandler Innovation Academy & GCS Elementary Schools request that you call their main office number. We ask that you follow this same procedure when taking your student out of school early.

-
Yes, excused absences count still count as an absence. The State of Indiana has an attendance goal of all students achieving less than 10 total absences from school. This means students are in school 94% of the school year based on a 180 day school year.

We understand life happens. You can always bring your child to school and have the nurse check them out to see if they are too sick to be at school. You can also communicate and give the classroom teacher or school counselor a heads up that your child may need extra attention or care. Our hope is that it helps take the pressure off you. If attendance becomes hard, reach out early to your child’s school- we are here to help.
