GHS Musical - Brigadoon 2025

Goshen Community Schools is proud to present multiple opportunities for student participation in theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes. Goshen Junior High School provides daytime elective classes for 7th and 8th graders: both beginning and advanced theatre curriculum study and performance. Students have multiple opportunities to participate in after-school theatre as well. The junior high performs a junior high version musical each fall and a straight play each February. Goshen High School also performs a fall play and spring musical.

  • GHS Theatre provides students with hands-on experience in every aspect of stage performance and production. Each year, students bring a full-scale fall play to life, collaborating on everything from acting and directing to technical design and management.

    Participants can explore roles both on and off stage—acting, set design, lighting, sound, props, costuming, and stage management—while developing creativity, confidence, and teamwork.

    The GHS Theatre program encourages students to take artistic risks, express themselves, and work together to create meaningful and memorable performances for the community.

  • The Goshen High School Music Department has joined together to present an extracurricular musical for more than 45 years, showcasing the talents of students both on and off the stage. Students from across all disciplines are given the opportunity to audition to be on stage, backstage, or in the pit orchestra. Shows typically include 25-50 students on the stage, a crew of between 5-10 technicians, and a pit orchestra of between 15-25 students from band and orchestra. Students audition in the winter and musical rehearsals last just under three months, culminating in one or two weekends of performances. Students learn broad aspects of musical productions, from advertising to memorizing lines, from learning choreography to building a set, and from learning the notes and rhythms to how to follow a live stage performer from the pit orchestra. Students annually perform for GCS fourth graders to introduce them to the theater. 

  • After School Theatre Arts (ASTA) is open to all 6th through 8th grade GCS students. We perform two shows a year: a musical just before Thanksgiving and a play at the end of February. We welcome actors and technicians, both new and experienced. Rehearsals are typically held after the Goshen Junior High School day in the GJHS auditorium. Time commitment depends on your role within the production. ASTA is directed by Mr. David Lounsbury aka Mr. L.
