Goshen Schools Still Needs Volunteers For Reading Camps
With just a few weeks left until the start of our Goshen Community Schools-United Way Reading Camps, we are still in need of volunteers. We are 80% of the way to our goal of 200 volunteers, but are still looking for 50 more volunteers to spend one or two hours per week with a Goshen 2nd grader. Please consider how you might help us out. Could you share a student with a co-worker? Do you know of a family member or friend, who likes to work with children?
The Goshen Community Schools-United Way Reading Camps will again be held for 8 weeks (February 4-March 26, 2015): Model, Waterford, West Goshen, Parkside, and Chandler. The children attending Reading Camps will be 2nd graders in need of extra reading and language arts practice. Reading Camps will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:00-4:00 p.m. (You may commit to one or two days or substitute on predetermined dates). We are looking for volunteers of all ages, who would be willing to spend one to two hours per week reading with a child. All volunteers will be given a limited background check and will participate in a training session to be held the last week of January. For more information or if you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact Michelle Kercher (Coordinator of Volunteers) at mkercher@goshenschools.org or (574)-535-3086.
