GHS Award Winners
Congratulations to GHS students Connor Glick and Cheyenne Kalb for having their AIA (American Institute of Architects) display board advance onto state finals. This is the 2nd year in a row that both of these students have advanced on to the finals! Their boards will be displayed in the Indianapolis Arts Garden in Circle Centre Mall from April 25-May 6, 2016, with the awards ceremony taking place the evening of May 6th. Below is an excerpt from this year’s challenge (and it was a true challenge!):
“The site for this project is rather unique. It is located over both land and water, along the edge of a very large lake. Your challenge is to integrate the existing (damaged) pier into your design, (where the building’s design itself is a tourist attraction). The building will have two indoor areas – the ice cream shop and the parasailing center. Inside will be public functions,, where customers will be served and private functions, which are open only to employees of the company. In addition to the indoor areas, there will be an outdoor dining and observation area where customers can enjoy ice cream, and watch the parasailers in action. Required areas include: Ice Cream Counter Area, Indoor Eating Area, Restrooms, Parasailing Counter Area, Walk In Freezer, Ice Cream Manager’s Office, Parasailing Manager’s Office and Supply Storage.”
Great job, Conner and Cheyenne!
