Goshen High School Welding Students Earn Industry Certifications Through American Welding Society

Goshen, IN – Goshen Community Schools is proud to announce that 89% of students in the Goshen High School welding program earned nationally recognized certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS), marking a major accomplishment for both students and the district’s growing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
These certifications help prepare students for a wide variety of high-demand career opportunities in the skilled trades and manufacturing industries, while also giving them a competitive advantage as they enter the workforce or continue their education after graduation.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our students, as well as the incredible leadership and instruction they receive every day,” said Jon Everingham, Director of Career and Technical Education. “Our welding program has made tremendous progress in just one year, creating meaningful opportunities that set students up for long-term success.”
In addition to earning AWS certifications, students in the welding program have opportunities to gain dual college credits and develop real-world technical skills through hands-on learning experiences. The program continues to expand, with second-year welding students next school year expected to have the opportunity to earn three additional AWS certifications and up to 12 additional welding dual credits.
Everingham also praised welding instructor Bryan Eck for the impact he continues to make on students both inside and outside the classroom.
“You impact students personally at a very high level and go well beyond curriculum, certifications, and dual credits,” Everingham shared. “You are leading the way.”
Goshen Community Schools remains committed to providing students with innovative learning experiences that prepare them for future careers and lifelong success. The continued growth of the welding program reflects the district’s commitment to expanding opportunities in Career and Technical Education and helping students discover pathways that match their interests and goals.
