Public Invited to Open House for 50th Goshen High School Building Trades Home

Goshen, IN – Goshen Community Schools and Goshen High School invite community members to celebrate a major milestone for the Goshen High School Building Trades program during the public open house for this year’s student-built home — the 50th house completed in program history.
The open house will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, beginning at noon at 1527 Sandlewood Drive, Goshen, IN 46526. The public is encouraged to attend and tour the home while seeing firsthand the craftsmanship and hard work of GHS students.
For decades, the Building Trades program has provided students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences in construction and skilled trades. Throughout the school year, students work on every stage of the home-building process, gaining valuable experience in framing, roofing, electrical work, finishing details, and more.
“This program gives students real, meaningful experience you just can’t replicate in a classroom,” said Todd Line, On-Site Instructor. “They take pride in their work because they know this is something real, something that will be part of the community for years to come.”
Nathan Kingsley, Classroom and Lab Instructor, said the program helps students develop skills far beyond construction.
“We’re not just teaching construction skills—we’re teaching problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance,” Kingsley said. “Students leave this program with confidence in what they can do and a clearer vision for their future.”
Reaching the 50th home represents generations of students, instructors, and community supporters who have contributed to the program’s lasting impact in Goshen. Beyond building homes, the program continues to prepare students for successful careers while strengthening the local community.
Community members attending the open house will have the opportunity to celebrate both the finished home and the students whose dedication and craftsmanship made it possible.
