GHS RedHawk Fire Academy Instructor Named Indiana Fire Instructor of the Year
Goshen, IN — Goshen Community Schools proudly announces that Chief Travis Peak, RedHawk Fire Academy Instructor in the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, has been named Indiana Fire Instructor of the Year at the Indiana Fire & EMS Leadership Conference.
This distinguished award recognizes an individual or division whose contribution to the training and education of Indiana’s Fire Service has made it more effective, safer, and more professional. Nominees demonstrate exceptional commitment through program development or by raising the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities of firefighters and emergency responders locally, regionally, or statewide.
Chief Peak’s impact has been felt both in the classroom and in the field. As a CTE instructor, he has equipped Goshen students with real-world skills and training that prepare them for careers in emergency services. Beyond the classroom, his leadership and dedication have elevated fire service training standards, ensuring firefighters and first responders are better prepared to protect our community.
“Chief Peak’s commitment to training and mentorship exemplifies what this award stands for,” said Mr. Jim DuBois, Superintendent of Goshen Community Schools. “He has not only strengthened the future of fire service by guiding our students but also made an enduring impact on public safety across the state.”
Earlier this week, Goshen Community Schools surprised Chief Peak with a celebration at Chandler Innovation Academy, where staff, students, and district leaders gathered to honor his accomplishment and express their gratitude for his work.
Chief Peak’s recognition highlights the strength of GCS’s Career and Technical Education programs, which connect students with experienced professionals and provide training that benefits both young people and the wider community.
