Board Recognitions for June 8, 2015
The girls 4×800 relay team advanced to the state track meet at IU Bloomington last weekend; team members include Nora Rangel, Hannah Kurtz, Adrienne Henke, and Jill Kissinger. The girls reported that they were seeded ninth going into the race, and that is where they ended up as well. However, they set a new school record for the 4×800, and were able to place high enough to make it onto the podium, qualifying them for all-state honors. Three of the girls will be back next year, as Adrienne is the only senior on the relay team. Adrienne plans to attend the University of Indianapolis next year to study nursing.
The boys 4×800 relay team also advanced to the state track meet at IU; team members include Gerardo Abad, Christian Ruiz, Andrew Pillow, and Colton Potter. Gerardo and Christian were present for the board meeting, and reported that they went into the meet seeded 25th, and placed 23rd. All of the team members are seniors except Colton Potter. Gerardo plans to attend St. Joseph’s College next year, where he will study art, and also participate in cross country and track. Christian plans to attend Ivy Tech part-time and work part-time.
Lori Shreiner, Goshen Middle School principal, was also honored by the board, after being named Principal of the Year by the Indiana School Principals Association.
