Board Recognitions for Aug. 10, 2015
The following people were honored by the GCS board of school trustees at the August 10 board meeting:
Jim Kaufmann-Mr. Kaufmann was recognized for his untiring support of GCS administrative software systems, and his tremendous assistance in the last year as GCS transitioned to a new payroll and HR system. Dr. Woodworth noted Mr. Kaufmann’s willingness to go above and beyond in providing support services to GCS, and thanked him for that.

Julie Sours-Ms. Sours was recognized by the board upon being named the 2015 K-8 German Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of American Association of Teachers of German. Ms. Sours explained that she had just returned from Germany, where she spent three weeks expanding her study of the German language.

Daniela Morales-Goshen High School senior Daniela Morales, who is also a student at the Elkhart Area Career Center, won first place in the national SkillsUSA Championships in Esthetics, the professional field of skin care. Ms. Morales competed against students from across the country in four different areas: An oral skin consultation; a written exam covering the fundamentals of skin care; sanitation; skin analysis; a hands-on basic facial demonstration; and a day time and fantasy make-up application. The national competition took place in Louisville, KY in June.
