The Crimson Marching Band was honored by the board for qualifying for Class A State Marching Band Finals.  The band marched in state finals competition on Saturday, November 8^th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.  Accepting the honor on behalf of the band was director Tom Cox and drum majors Isabella Torres, Annika Bontrager, Sydney Cox, and Ashley Taylor.

Also recognized by the board were the Waterford Welcomers.  The Welcomers are students in 4^th and 5^th grades at Waterford, who assist in welcoming students to their school at the beginning of the year, and throughout the school year as new students enroll.  The program is organized by school counselor June Davidhizar, who explained that the welcomers teach new students the “Waterford way”-the rules by which all Waterford students and staff live.  The welcomers also help students through the adjustment to a new school and answer any questions they may have.

One 5^th grade student, Edwin Cortez Flores, shared that he volunteers because he wants to help other kids, he likes seeing the other kids smile, and that he will miss all of the younger Waterford students when he goes to Goshen Middle School next year.
