“Mr. Awesome” Visits Chandler for Real Men Read
The Read United program “Real Men Read” has a strong presence of community volunteers in all Goshen elementary schools. “Real Men Read” runs through the month of November with weekly sessions, for a total of 4 weeks. There are currently 90 readers bringing their diverse career experiences and personalities to our younger students. Each volunteer spends about 30 minutes a week reading and interacting with students using provided books. Volunteers are encouraged to use props and make personal connections related to the themes of the stories. All books are then donated to the classrooms.
Please enjoy this video of “Mr. Awesome”, also know as Darrin Eichorn, reading “A Night Before Thanksgiving” by Dav Pilkey.
“Real Men Read” is funded through United Way of Elkhart County in collaboration with Goshen Community Schools. If you are interested in next year’s program, please contact Sharon Sarber, Volunteer Engagement Specialist, at ssarber@goshenschools.org.
Thank you to the many men who read to GCS students this year!
