Goshen High School Senior Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist
Goshen, IN – Goshen Community Schools is proud to announce that Goshen High School senior Ezra Tice has been recognized as a Semifinalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Ezra is one of approximately 16,000 students nationwide to achieve this honor, representing less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors. His recognition is based on outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), taken during his junior year.
The National Merit Scholarship Program, now in its 71st year, honors academically talented students who demonstrate the potential for success in rigorous college studies. Of the 16,000 Semifinalists, about 95 percent are expected to advance to the Finalist level. Roughly half of the Finalists will go on to receive one of 6,930 National Merit Scholarships, worth nearly $26 million, to be awarded in the spring of 2026.
To advance to Finalist standing, Ezra will submit a detailed application that includes his academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership, employment, and honors. Finalists must also earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm their earlier qualifying test performance.
“We are so proud of Ezra and all of the hard work that led to this recognition,” said David Post, GHS 12th Grade Counselor. “This honor reflects his dedication to academics and his commitment to excellence. We are excited to support him as he continues in the competition.”
Goshen High School Assistant Principal Darin Holsopple added, “This recognition highlights not only Ezra’s achievement but also the strength of our students and staff who work tirelessly to prepare students for success beyond high school.”
National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in four nationwide releases beginning in April and concluding in July of 2026.
Goshen Community Schools congratulates Ezra on this outstanding achievement and wishes him the best as he continues through the competition process.
