Academics
Academics are at the heart of everything we do at Goshen High School. We firmly believe that every child, given time and support, can and will learn. Our Student Counseling Department works individually with students to create an academic plan that allows them to set goals, build a pathway to success, and graduate in four years with college credit, workplace certifications, and a strong sense of accomplishment that prepares them for the future.
We are a diverse school with diverse learners. GHS has proudly produced more National Merit Scholars and more ENL (English as a New Language) students than any other high school in Elkhart County. Our success is built on rigorous coursework, highly trained teachers, and innovative approaches to learning that meet students where they are and help them soar.
-
For students who learn best in a smaller or more flexible environment, the Goshen Alternative Program (GAP)—housed at Chandler Innovation Academy—offers a supportive path to graduation. GAP serves students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom but who have the determination and aptitude to complete their high school education and build a strong foundation for their future.
-
Goshen High School’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs—branded as FlightPaths—give students hands-on opportunities to explore high-demand careers while earning industry certifications and college credits.
Through state-of-the-art labs, partnerships with local employers, students gain real-world experience in fields such as:-
Engineering, Manufacturing & Welding
-
Fire & EMT
-
Building Trades
-
Aviation
-
Education Professions
-
Entrepreneurship, and more
Thanks to generous support from the City of Goshen and the Greater Goshen Association, these programs continue to grow—helping students discover their passions and prepare for rewarding careers close to home.
-
-
Our ENL Department supports students from multilingual backgrounds, helping them develop English proficiency and academic success. Representing over 15 language groups, our ENL team—including teachers, collaborators, and an academic and attendance advisor—ensures every student has access to equitable learning opportunities and the tools to succeed in and beyond the classroom.
-
At the beginning of the 2023–2024 school year, GHS introduced new pathways aligned with Indiana’s graduation requirements.
-
RedHawks University allows college-bound students to potentially earn an associate degree while still in high school.
-
Early College offers additional academic and social support for students who need a structured, encouraging environment to reach their goals.
These programs provide students with the opportunity to graduate prepared for college, career, and life beyond high school.
-
-
Goshen High School’s Special Education Department provides a full continuum of services tailored to meet individual learning needs. These include:
-
Functional skills classrooms
-
Collaboration with general education teachers
-
Consultation and transition planning
Our program equips students with the academic and vocational skills necessary to thrive in today’s rapidly changing world.

-
Students interested in earning hands-on experience while in school can participate in our Interdisciplinary Cooperative Education program. The Interdisciplinary Cooperative Education partners with local employers to provide safe, supervised internships and apprenticeships. Students work 6–15 hours per week, gaining valuable real-world experience at companies such as Lippert Components, Goshen Health, Weiland Designs, and many others.
