Title I - Supplementary Education Services

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are free tutoring services that must be offered to non-proficient, eligible students who attend a Title I school in improvement. Goshen Community Schools has three Title I schools in improvement: Chamberlain, Chandler, and West Goshen.

These services offer students extra help in academic subjects such as reading, language arts, mathematics, or science. SES services are provided outside the regular school day.

Improvement Status for Title I Schools

  • Chamberlain — Focused Improvement Plan (Year 3)
  • Chandler — Comprehensive Improvement Plan (Year 4)
  • West Goshen — Focused Improvement Plan (Year 4)

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to participate in SES, students must meet certain criteria:

  1. The student must receive free or reduced lunch.
  2. The student must be deemed non-proficient academically as measured by standardized testing for their grade. These tests are:
    • mClass for Kindergarten – Grade 2
    • Acuity for Grade 3
    • ISTEP for Grades 4 – 5

Timeline of Important Dates

  • Aug 26 – Oct 16 — Non-proficient and qualifying students will be determined.
  • Oct 23 — Invitations will be mailed to families of  qualifying students.
  • SES Provider Selection Dinners. This is an opportunity to meet with the SES providers.  (Free childcare will be provided during the dinner.)
    • Nov 3 — 6:00 PM at Chandler
    • Nov 10 — 6:00 PM at Chamberlain
    • Nov 17 — 6:00 PM at West Goshen
  • Nov 21 — Deadline for Selection Sheets to be turned in.
  • Nov 24 — Providers will begin contacting selected students.
